Waynflete’s tuition assistance program is one of the school’s most powerful tools for building an accessible and inclusive community. This year, 39 percent of current students will receive assistance. We encourage parents to use our tuition assistance estimator to discover how accessible a Waynflete education can be for your family.
Waynflete works to avoid having cost be a primary deterrent for families exploring and considering the school. From tuition assistance to flexible monthly payment plans to tuition insurance, we are committed to seeking ways to help parents find an affordable way to give their children the lifelong gift of a quality education.

Families should inform the Admission Office of their intentions to apply for tuition assistance when they first inquire. The Admission Office is committed to answering any questions parents may have at any point in their process of exploring and applying to Waynflete. Applications for tuition assistance must be filed by January 15. After the January 15 deadline, applicants should directly contact the Admission Office before submitting an application for aid.
Waynflete tuition assistance awards are need-based grants instead of loans. Families are notified of any tuition assistance award at the time of their admission decision. Families will be asked to commit to attending Waynflete only after knowing their tuition balance due.
Families applying for tuition assistance must complete the Clarity Application for Financial Aid. The filing fee is $60. Depending on total household earnings, an automatic fee waiver may be applied. Other paperwork, including W-2 Wage and Tax Statements and federal tax returns, must also be included in the Clarity application. Waynflete and Clarity hold all financial information, records, and correspondence in the strictest confidence.
Current Waynflete families receiving tuition assistance must submit a Clarity application each year by December 15 to keep the school updated on their financial picture. Waynflete makes a long-term commitment to those receiving assistance and parents can count on continuing to receive support if their financial picture remains similar.
Current Waynflete families who experience significant and unexpected changes in their finances are encouraged to contact the Admission Office to discuss their circumstances.

Payment Plans
Waynflete offers several tuition payment plans.
Full Payment Plan
- To reserve a spot at Waynflete for the upcoming school year, the non-refundable/non-transferable enrollment deposit is due by March 1 for returning families, and by April 10 for new families. Please note: the payment of tuition becomes a full-year obligation after April 30.
- The remaining tuition is due in full by July 1 and considered delinquent if not paid by August 1.
- A late fee of 1 percent per month will be assessed on delinquent accounts.
Standard Payment Plan
- To reserve a spot at Waynflete for the upcoming school year, the non-refundable/non-transferable enrollment deposit is due by March 1 for returning families, and by April 10 for new families. Please note: the payment of tuition becomes a full-year obligation after April 30.
- 60 percent of tuition less the enrollment deposit is due by July 1 and considered delinquent if not paid by August 1.
- The remaining 40 percent of tuition is due by November 1 and considered delinquent if not paid by December 1.
- A late fee of 1 percent per month will be assessed on delinquent accounts.
Deferred Payment Plan (Veracross VC Pay)
- To reserve a spot at Waynflete for the upcoming school year, the non-refundable/non-transferable enrollment deposit is due by March 1 for returning families, and by April 10 for new families. Please note: the payment of tuition becomes a full-year obligation after April 30.
- The plan involves ten monthly automatic withdrawals from a bank account beginning July 5 and ending April 5. Tuition will be divided equally over the ten months with the July withdrawal being reduced by the amount of the enrollment deposit paid.
- Registering for VC Pay and enrolling in AutoPay for recurring ACH tuition payments at the time of enrollment is required.
- Veracross charges a non-refundable VC Pay registration fee of $25 per student.
- A returned payment fee of $15 will be assessed if a payment is returned for any reason.

529 Plan Information
The 2017 tax reform package allows parents who have 529 Plans to consider using their accounts to pay private school K-12 tuition up to $10,000 per child. There are a number of federal and state tax variables. Tuition Assistance Resource Documents
Waynflete partners with Clarity in our tuition assistance application process. Beginning October 1, parents may access the Clarity online tuition assistance application (Clarity Application for Financial Aid) for the 2025–26 school year through Clarity.
We ask families to apply for assistance only after they have considered all of their available resources and determined the full cost of tuition is beyond their means. Prospective families should file their Clarity applications by January 15. Following that deadline, families may still be considered for aid but should contact the Admission Office before submitting their application.
Current Waynflete families receiving tuition assistance should file their Clarity application yearly by December 15.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF FAMILIES RECEIVE TUITION ASSISTANCE?

DOES TUITION ASSISTANCE COVER OTHER SCHOOL EXPENSES?
Tuition assistance is applied solely towards tuition, which includes textbooks, general course supplies, visual arts materials, and science lab fees. Co-curricular activities and most athletics at Waynflete are also free of any costs. Additional expenses a family may incur include:
• Transportation: Please refer to the Bus Rate Sheet here. Families receiving tuition assistance are eligible for a fifty percent discount on bus rates.
• Afterschool Program (for students in Lower and Middle School): Please refer to Waynflete’s Afterschool Rate Sheet here.
• Tutoring: The Academic Support Center provides tutoring for students who, in the School’s judgment, need additional assistance in meeting our rigorous academic standards. Tutoring rates are discussed in the early stages of implementing a support plan.
COULD AN APPLICATION FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE IMPACT THE ADMISSION DECISION?
While Waynflete has an annual tuition assistance budget of $5 million, the School receives more requests for assistance than can be met each year, and families applying for tuition assistance enter a more competitive applicant pool. Families applying for Waynflete tuition assistance are asked to also explore all of their other available resources.
HOW DOES WAYNFLETE DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF TUITION ASSISTANCE A FAMILY RECEIVES?
Waynflete partners with Clarity in the tuition assistance process. Waynflete and Clarity believe a family has the primary obligation to finance their child’s education. When offering tuition assistance, the School’s intent is to meet each family’s demonstrated need as much as available funds allow.
Clarity initially provides Waynflete with an objective, holistic analysis of a family’s need. By filing a Clarity Application, the Clarity methodology is an important starting point for the School. Variables include household earnings, assets, debt, number of children in a tuition-charging school, age of parents, and national economic factors.
The Waynflete Tuition Assistance Committee individually assesses a family’s financial situation using Clarity guidelines and professional judgment in accordance with the School’s mission and policies.
IS HAVING OTHER CHILDREN IN PRIVATE SCHOOL TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION?
Yes. The Clarity application asks how many children a family expects will be enrolled in a tuition charging school. The Suggested Tuition initially calculated by Clarity is divided by this figure.
Waynflete expects families will apply for financial assistance at each of the private schools their children may attend. The School will take into account differing levels of tuition. Copies of official tuition assistance awards from other schools may be requested.
CAN MORE THAN ONE CHILD BE CONSIDERED FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE?
Yes. One application may be used for multiple applicants. In this regard, the Clarity application should be carefully completed by parents.
COULD A FAMILY’S TUITION ASSISTANCE AWARD CHANGE FROM YEAR TO YEAR?
Tuition assistance awards are budgeted as a long-term commitment by the School. Families receiving tuition assistance must reapply each year to keep the School updated on their financial picture and requests are formally reviewed on an annual basis. If financial circumstances remain consistent, a family can expect their award to be renewed for at least the same amount as the previous school year. If a significant change is experienced in a family’s financial picture and/or their calculated need, an award may be adjusted accordingly.
CAN CURRENT FAMILIES PAYING FULL TUITION APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE?
Waynflete’s priority is to maintain and renew the awards of families already receiving financial assistance. Currently enrolled families interested in submitting a tuition assistance application for the first time, due to a significant and unexpected change in their financial circumstances, should contact the Admission Office prior to completing any paperwork.
WHAT PAPERWORK IS NEEDED FROM SEPARATED OR DIVORCED PARENTS?
The Tuition Assistance Committee requires each biological/custodial parent to separately submit a Clarity application and supporting paperwork. If a biological/custodial parent is remarried or cohabitating, spouses or partners should be included on that parent’s Clarity application and supporting paperwork should be submitted. When determining an award, the Tuition Assistance Committee will consider all biological/custodial parties.
As needed, families can provide context directly on their Clarity application or by directly speaking with a member of the Admission Office. Under the following circumstances, Waynflete will consider waiving the requirement of receiving paperwork from a parent:
• Documentation that states the location of a non-custodial parent is unknown.
• Documentation that a non-custodial parent has given no financial support and has had no significant contact with the family in the recent past.
• Requested documentation will be accepted from a lawyer, clergy member, doctor, or objective person outside the immediate family.
WHAT PAPERWORK IS NEEDED FROM SELF-EMPLOYED PARENTS?
The Clarity application asks if parents are a full proprietor of, or partner in, one or more businesses (or farms). Parents who are self-employed should answer “Yes” and complete all subsequent questions that appear. A copy of the most recent Federal income tax returns should be submitted, with all related Schedules. If applicable, a corporate tax return should also be submitted.
WHEN CAN FAMILIES EXPECT A TUITION ASSISTANCE DECISION?
For current families, awards will be finalized at the start of the re-enrollment period. For newly accepted families, tuition assistance awards are included with letters of acceptance. The Tuition Assistance Committee reviews tuition assistance applications which are complete. Families who do not submit paperwork by stated deadlines may experience a delay in any tuition assistance award. Families who apply and do not qualify for assistance are notified as soon as possible.
WILL A DECISION BE DELAYED IF LATEST TAX RETURN IS STILL BEING FILED?
Federal tax returns are an important part of the School’s review process. While completing the Clarity application, families give permission for tax data to be shared directly from the IRS with Clarity and Waynflete. Prior year taxes will be requested immediately after the filing of a tuition assistance application. Copies of parents’ most recent W2 or 1099 Forms will be shared as soon they are available in January.
FRIENDS RECEIVED MORE ASSISTANCE FROM WAYNFLETE EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE SIMILAR FINANCIAL PICTURES. HOW CAN WE PROCEED?
In this scenario, confidentiality has been broken. Tuition assistance is a private agreement between Waynflete and an individual family. Discussing details of an award with another party is a breach of that privacy and the School’s policies. In addition, families are often unaware of important details of another’s financial picture as well as variables the Tuition Assistance Committee considered in the award process.
A family may contact the Admission Office if they feel pertinent and factual information about their own financial picture and resources might have been overlooked or misunderstood.
IN THE NEAR FUTURE WE EXPECT A DROP IN INCOME FOR REASONS BEYOND OUR CONTROL. IS THERE A WAY TO ACCOUNT FOR THIS ON OUR APPLICATION?
Awards are primarily based on income already earned. The Clarity application does ask for projected earnings. When determining awards, Waynflete will work to consider future changes in income.
WHAT IF A PARENT PLANS TO RETURN TO SCHOOL OR START A BUSINESS IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
The Tuition Assistance Committee tries to keep in mind parents may make decisions they feel will financially benefit them more in the longer term. The Committee is typically unable to subsidize voluntary reductions in household income or resources. Families facing extenuating circumstances may directly speak with a member of the Admission Office when completing their application for tuition assistance.
WE HAVE INVESTED IN RENTAL PROPERTIES AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO HAVING A FORMAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNT. HOW WILL THIS GENERALLY BE VIEWED ON OUR APPLICATION?
Rental income, as well as the total value of a property, strengthens a financial picture. In general, property is unprotected when calculating tuition assistance. The Tuition Assistance Committee will fully review a family’s financial profile, including provisions made for retirement, and make decisions in accordance with the School’s polices and sense of fairness. Families facing extenuating circumstances may directly speak with a member of the Admission Office when completing their application.
OUR INCOME IS THROUGH A BUSINESS (LPC, LLC, ETC.). HOW WILL THE TUITION ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE VIEW EARNINGS?
The Tuition Assistance Committee will carefully review personal and corporate tax forms, including profit income, debt and all held assets. As paperwork is reviewed, the committee will ask for any needed clarification.
HOW DOES THE TUITION ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE VIEW TRUSTS OR EDUCATION FUNDS WHICH ARE IN A CHILD’S NAME?
The Tuition Assistance Committee follows Clarity’s guidelines. Family savings, investments, trust-funds, 529 Plans, or other assets will be carefully reviewed and considered when determining tuition assistance awards. Information about a student’s financial assets is requested on the Clarity application. A portion of a family’s contribution may be determined by dividing the value of assets in a student’s name by the remaining number of years they will be in school, including college.

Malone Scholars Program
Waynflete School has been named a Malone Scholar School in recognition of the quality of our academic program. This acknowledgement establishes a permanent endowment to support scholarships for students entering grades 7-12. Applicants who have outstanding academic and leadership potential, and whose families qualify for at least thirty percent tuition assistance, have an opportunity to be designated as a Malone Scholar. Malone Scholars are identified as part of the regular admission process. No additional paperwork beyond the submission of required Admission and Tuition Assistance materials is necessary to apply. Scholarship recipients are selected jointly by the Admission and Tuition Assistance committees. Recipients must demonstrate financial need by completing the Waynflete tuition assistance process.
